We’re extremely pleased to be able to say that our very own Lewys Richards is officially the Deputy President of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff. This means that he will serve as Deputy President for one year before serving as President for one year.
To be selected is a huge honour, and we’re all extremely proud of Lewys. He will be the first president since 2018 to have come from financial services and not insurance.
The Insurance Institute of Cardiff (IIC) is the local institute for the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
For those of you who are unaware, the CII is a professional body dedicated to building public trust in the insurance and financial planning professions. Their strapline, “Standards. Professionalism. Trust.” embodies their commitment to driving confidence in the power of professional standards: competence, integrity and care for the customer.
The CII delivers this through relevant learning, insightful leadership and an engaged membership. All 125,000 members commit to certain professional standards. This is done by maintaining professional development and adhering to a published ethical code.
At its essence, the Chartered Insurance Institute operates to ensure that those in the insurance and financial professions continue to operate with their clients’ best interests at heart.
Lewys has been a member of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff for five years, having served over the years as the secretary and communications officer. Prior to his time on the IIC committee, he spent four years on the Novus committee, which is the Young Professionals Group associated with the Insurance Institute of Cardiff, showing his commitment to ensuring his clients receive only the best possible service.
In 2019, Lewys was also announced as the winner of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff Young Achiever Award. A further symbol of his dedication to matching the standards set out by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
We’re extremely proud of this achievement for Lewys, and it is a just reward for all of his continued hard work.
